St. Joseph Street • Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 • Fax: ( 605) 394- 6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ( April 6, 1999) LOCAL STUDENTS RECEIVE AWARDS AT SDSM& T HONORS CONVOCATION During the 48th Annual Honors Convocation held Tuesday, March 30, at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology ( SDSM& T), two local students received awards. Senior Chad Stephensen ( CE) of Highmore received an award for graduating with high honors ( 3.80 GPA or above); and freshman Cameron Crow ( CENG) of Stephan received an award for Academic Achievement in Engineering. The Honors Convocation is held to present awards to students, faculty, and friends of SDSM& T in recognition of their outstanding service and academic achievements. A total of 104 awards were given out to 87 students, faculty, and friends. The award categories included Academic Achievement; Leadership Awards in athletics; Outstanding Greek Award; Drama; Non- Traditional Student; Student Association; Fraternity & Sororities; Tech Activities Award; Seniors Graduating in 1999 With Highest Honors; Departmental Awards; Frank and Marilyn Richardson Scholars; Mines Award For Outstanding Public Service; Mines Award For Outstanding Teaching; AISES Award For Outstanding Teaching; Benard A.
