St. Joseph Street Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 Fax: ( 605) 394- 3388 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ( March 24, 1999) SPEARFISH MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS WIN HONORS AT HIGH PLAINS REGIONAL SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR Eight students from Spearfish Middle School won honors at the 44th Annual High Plains Regional Science & Engineering Fair held recently on the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology ( SDSM& T). Jessie Richey won 2nd Place/ 6th Grade- Biology for a science project entitled " Twins." Shaun Satterlee won 1st Place/ 7th Grade- Physical for a science project entitled " How Electromagnetism Makes a Motor Run." Brian Ewoldt won 5th Place/ 7th Grade- Physical and 1st Place Junior High/ US Air Force Awards for his science project entitled " How Air Temperature Affects Lift on a Section of an Airplane Wing." Jamie Leslie and Daleri Moller won 1st Place/ 6th Grade- Team for a science project entitled " A Dialogue About Smog." Emilie Hammerquist and Michelle McGrath won 1st Place/ 7th Grade- Team for their science project entitled " Rain, Rain Go Away… Come Again on a Non- Fest Day." The 44th Annual High Plains Regional Science & Engineering Fair featured 375 middle and high school students from 32 area schools competing in various science and engineering categories.
