St. Joseph Street Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 Fax: ( 605) 394- 3388 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ( March 24, 1999) RAPID CITY STUDENTS PARTICIPATE AT HIGH PLAINS REGIONAL SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR The 44th Annual High Plains Regional Science & Engineering Fair was held recently on the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology ( SDSM& T). Students came from Rapid City, Belle Fourche, Sturgis, Spearfish, Custer, Cheyenne, Hot Springs, Edgemont, Hermosa, Newell, White River, Ottumwa, Kyle, Pine Ridge and Todd County. The 44th Annual High Plains Regional Science & Engineering Fair featured 375 middle and high school students from 32 area schools competing in various science and engineering categories. A total of approximately $ 2, 650 in cash awards plus many additional prizes that included flags, books, backpacks, databanks, and medallions were awarded to the winners in the various categories. ++ 30++ Photo Caption: Christine Gifford of Dakota Middle School displays her science project entitled " How Star Movement Coordinates With Time" at the 44th Annual High Plains Regional Science & Engineering Fair.
