Joshua Kitzan won 4th Place/ 6th Grade- Biology for his science project entitled " Do Earthworms Improve the Soil?" Bryce Ryan Foos won 1st Place/ 7th Grade- Biology for his science project entitled " The Cutting Edge… Board of Health." Steven Brunner won 4th Place/ 7th Grade- Biology for his science project entitled " Do Gestures Affect Speech?" Andre Barnaud won 4th Place/ 6th Grade- Physical for a science project entitled " How Does the Diameter of a Wheel Affect the Speed of the Vehicle to Which it Belongs?" and Ryan Brunner won 2nd Place/ Engineering/ Earth/ Space Science- Senior Division for his science project entitled " Does Soil Type Affect Fertilizer Leaching and Percolation Rate?" Other students from Newell who competed in the event and their project titles are as follows: Name Project Flint Riesland How Can We Develop More Thrust? Bernadette Barnaud Is it a Solid or a Liquid? Danika Knudson How Do Water Filters Work? Bryce Foos The Cutting Edge… Board of Health Karen E. Kitzan Are Wood Ashes or Coal Ashes Good for Plants? The 44th Annual High Plains Regional Science & Engineering Fair featured 375 middle and high school students from 32 area schools competing in various science and engineering categories.
