Desiree Wood won 2nd Place/ 7th Grade- Biology for her science project entitled " Gravity or Water: Which has Stronger Pull?" Rachel Huddleston won 5th Place/ 8th Grade- Biology for her science project entitled " Does Your Mouthwash Really Work?" Cody Griebel won 3rd Place/ 7th Grade- Physical for his science project entitled " Model Rocketry." Curtis Fees and Jeremy Lanning won 2nd Place/ 7th Grade- Team for their science project entitled "' Iron'ing Out the Facts." Sierra Hubregtse and Molly Russell won 3rd Place/ 7th Grade- Team for their science project entitled " Which Type of Carrot Produces the Most Gas When Mixed with Ascetic Acid?" Charles Falkena and Jonathan Huber won 2nd Place/ 8th Grade- Team for their science project entitled " A Fungus that Shoots Like a Cannon, " and Jessica Weisz and Brianna Johnston won a special award from the Association of Women Geoscientists for their science project entitled " What Would the World Be Like?" The 44th Annual High Plains Regional Science & Engineering Fair featured 375 middle and high school students from 32 area schools competing in various science and engineering categories.
