Scott Hagemann of Aberdeen and eleven teammates from Theta Tau Actives team took second place at the SDSM& T Contest. The Rube Goldberg Contest held during the 22nd Annual National Engineers Week at SDSM& T was anything but matter- of- fact. The contest is a nationwide event held to inspire imagination and creativity in engineering. Anything but objective thought and intuitive thinking is allowed. This year's challenge: " To tee a golf tee and tee up a golf ball" in twenty or more steps. The contest is named after and inspired by the cartoonist Reuben Lucius Goldberg. He drew his inventions in the simplest, wackiest, and most logical way he could by using everyday household items and simple machines. Each year a new theme is derived and engineering students across the country eagerly await their next challenge.
