The designation includes a $ 5, 000 renewable scholarship and a summer internship. Ernst is a sophomore chemical engineering major at South Dakota Tech and is a 1996 graduate of Aberdeen Central High School. Her activities at South Dakota Tech include Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Phi Eta Sigma ( national honor society), TONITE ( Tech's student programming council), and the SDSM& T Student Chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers ( AICHe).
