" Randy" Taylor, Jr. as the 1999 SDSM& T Outstanding Recent Graduate in Geological Engineering. Taylor, who is a graduate of Rapid City Stevens High School, received his Bachelor of Science degree in geological engineering from SDSM& T in 1988. Since his graduation, Taylor has held increasing levels of responsibility with Taylor Drilling Company and has been President of the company since 1995. He has contributed substantially to the success of his company and has been responsible for the development and contracting of more than $ 10 million in revenues. He has effectively led the marketing and technical development of major well- drilling projects, including water supply wells for Rapid City and Spearfish. He also has donated substantial amounts of his time to Lifewater International, an organization that is dedicated to bringing clean drinking water to the rural poor around the world. " He is an outstanding example of entrepreneurial effort and is a role model for our graduates who wish to remain in South Dakota and succeed, " said Dr. Richard Gowen, SDSM& T President. Taylor and alumni in four other engineering fields were honored as Outstanding Recent Graduates during a recent Engineers Week luncheon on the South Dakota Tech campus. SDSM& T officials established the Outstanding Recent Graduate Award to recognize alumni for their professional achievements and civic involvement within ten years of graduation. Randy and his wife, Marcia, have two children.
