St. Joseph Street Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 Fax: ( 605) 394- 6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ( February 26, 1999) EVELETH RESIDENT HONORED AS 1999 SDSM& T OUTSTANDING RECENT GRADUATE IN METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING Boyd Eisenbraun of Eveleth was recently honored by the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology ( SDSM& T) as the 1999 SDSM& T Outstanding Recent Graduate in Metallurgical Engineering. Eisenbraun graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering from SDSM& T in 1988. After initially accepting an entry- level position with Climax Molybdenum Company, he has been awarded consistently more responsible technical positions. Currently Plant Superintendent for Eveleth Mines, he has direct supervisory authority of 156 employees and manages an annual budget of $ 84 million. In 1994 he received the Sentinels of Safety Award as team leader for the safest surface mine in the USA. In addition, he has been a leader in cost reduction and environmental remediation strategies with every operation in which he has been involved. Along with his outstanding professional development, he has volunteered for many community activities, in particular, focusing his attention on activities and organizations that contribute to sound development and enjoyment of natural resources. Eisenbraun and alumni in four other engineering fields were honored as Outstanding Recent Graduates during a recent Engineers Week luncheon held on the South Dakota Tech campus in Rapid City, SD. SDSM& T officials established the Outstanding Recent Graduate Award to recognize alumni for their professional achievements and civic involvement within ten years of graduation. Eisenbraun was born and raised in McLaughlin, South Dakota.
