Terry Collins of Rapid City, a Civil Engineering graduate student at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, has been awarded a $ 7, 000 research fellowship by Master Builders, Inc. to support his experimental thesis in concrete. Collins, who has 23 years of experience in the concrete industry, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from SDSM& T last May and is now pursuing a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Collins will use the fellowship to continue research at SDSM& T on using recycled glass in concrete and in developing flowable fill for utility lines. Dr. M. R. Hansen, SDSM& T Associate Professor of Civil Engineering recently presented Collins with the check on behalf of L. Michael Shydlowski, President & CEO of Master Builders, Inc. " Master Builders officials are very impressed with our program at SDSM& T and have hired several of our graduates, " said Dr. Hansen. " They plan to make this an annual contribution."
