Dawn, a senior chemistry major at SDSM& T, serves as president of the university's SADD chapter. She is the daughter of Susan and Merle Recker. Members of the Students Against Drinking and Driving ( SADD) chapter at SDSM& T were recognized for their development of a campus- wide response to alcohol use and drinking and driving. In addition to creating a sober- ride program, SADD members were involved in a variety of alcohol awareness programs that stressed the potential consequences of drinking and driving. Reaching beyond the boundaries of the campus, the SADD members took their message to area high schools and participated in several citywide events providing innovative programs. Accepting the award on behalf of SADD were Dawn Recker, chapter president, and Jolie McCoy, SDSM& T Director of University Counseling, chapter advisor.
