Feiszli, SDSM& T Professor of Humanities and Director of Music, has been invited to be the guest of the Swedish Choral Federation at the celebration honoring prominent Swedish choral conductor Eric Ericsson. America's Robert Shaw and Sweden's Eric Ericsson are considered two of the world's greatest choral directors. In celebration of Ericsson's 80th birthday, the Swedish Choral Federation, in conjunction with the Swedish government, is sponsoring special concerts involving the Swedish National Orchestra and the Swedish National Radio Chorus. Active as a clinician and lecturer on choral music and the Internet in countries ranging from Hungary to France and the U. S., Dr. Feiszli will travel to Stockholm next week for the events honoring Eric Ericsson. He will then spend two days in Belgium assisting Jean- Claude Wilkens in the development of new web pages for the International Center for Choral Music ( ICCM). In the choral field, there are two centers for choral music— the ICCM in Namur, Belgium, administered by Jean- Claude Wilkens, and ChoralNet, the Internet Center for Choral Music, administered by Dr. Feiszli. ChoralNet is the outgrowth of an e- mail discussion group begun by Dr. Feiszli in 1993 that is now the official Internet presence of the International Federation for Choral Music ( IFCM). Representing over twenty million choral singers and directors throughout the world, IFCM serves as the official voice for choral music to the United Nations and the American Choral Directors Association ( ACDA), the main professional choral organization in the U. S. As executive director of ChoralNet, Dr. Feiszli acts as an advisor to the International Music Council of the United Nations, IFCM, ACDA, and Chorus America. ChoralNet includes a web site that provides the most comprehensive listing of sites on the Internet related to choral music; three electronic mail lists that serve as an interactive network for over 4000 choral musicians across the world; and on- line resources including choral music databases. Dr. Feiszli also has been contracted to be a clinician for the Fifth World Symposium on Choral Music in Rotterdam in July of 1999 and for the ACDA Southwest Division Convention in 2000. ++ 30++ ( I:\ univrel\ pressrele\ 1098\ Feiszli Sweden fax/ RC media, dailies) |
