St. Joseph Street • Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 • Fax: ( 605) 394- 3388 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ( April 23, 1997) SDSM& T TO HOLD 1ST ANNUAL ENGINEERING DESIGN FAIR ON APRIL 24 The 1st Annual Engineering Design Fair will be held Thursday, April 24, on the South Dakota Tech campus. The event will run from 8: 30 a. m. until 12: 30 p. m. in the Surbeck Center Ballroom. The purpose of the Design Fair is to showcase the Capstone Design projects of Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering senior students at Tech. A wide variety of projects will be on display, many of which have external sponsorship from local businesses and government agencies. Projects on display will include an animal inoculation gun and four vehicle projects which were sponsored by NASA and the National Science Foundation. This year's design fair is a prototype of what SDSM& T officials hope will grow in future years into a campus- wide interdisciplinary event with keynote speakers and attendance by area K- 12 students.
