JAMES MUNRO APPOINTED ACTING DEAN OF SDSM& T COLLEGE OF MATERIALS SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING Dr. James M. Munro has been appointed Acting Dean of the SDSM& T College of Materials Science and Engineering. Munro will serve in that capacity until January, 1998 when Dr. Kenneth Han returns from his six- month sabbatical leave in Korea. The College of Materials Science and Engineering includes the Departments of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, and Physics. Munro, who is a professor of Chemical Engineering at South Dakota Tech, also will continue to serve as Chair of SDSM& T's Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. He received his B. S. and M. S. degrees from SDSM& T and his Ph. D. degree from the University of Utah. MICHAEL BATCHELDER NAMED INTERIM DEAN OF SDSM& T COLLEGE OF SYSTEMS ENGINEERING Dr. Michael J. Batchelder has been named Interim Dean of the SDSM& T College of Systems Engineering. He will serve in that capacity until the search is completed to replace Dr. Karen Whitehead, who was recently appointed SDSM& T Vice President for Academic Affairs. The College of Systems Engineering includes the Departments of Mathematics and Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. While serving as Interim Dean, Batchelder will continue his duties as Chair and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He joined the faculty at South Dakota Tech in 1974. He earned his B. S. and M. S. degrees from Oklahoma State University and his Ph.
