St. Joseph Street Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 Fax: ( 605) 394- 6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ( June 3, 1998) SDSM& T DINOSAUR DIG IN HARDING COUNTY OFFERS FIELD DINING BY A COLORADO COOK The SDSM& T Museum of Geology field paleo dig in Harding County offers participants a double treat digging for dinosaurs and also dining in the field on meals prepared by a cook from Colorado. EARTH Magazine is donating the culinary services of Pat Monaco of Monaco's Movable Meals, Wedmore, Colorado. She will prepare the meals on- site at the " Late Cretaceous Dinosaurs and Other Vertebrates" field dig scheduled for June 15- 26 in Harding County under the direction of Drs. James Martin and Bruce Schumacher. Pat Monaco, who is a registered nurse, is very active in the Garden Park, Colorado, paleontology group. Monaco offered to donate her culinary services for a field paleo dig during a recent Society of Vertebrate Paleontology ( SVP) fundraising auction to benefit the SVP's education fund. EARTH Magazine purchased Monaco's catering services at the SVP auction and held a contest to determine where Monaco's catering services were most needed. Based on the results of that contest, EARTH Magazine decided to donate her field dig cooking package to the SDSM& T Museum of Geology. Monaco's motto on her business card ~ " Finer Field Foods and Fossiling" ~ underscores her passion for paleo field digs and cooking. The public can participate in this field dig on a limited, space available basis with the option of receiving academic credit for the session. To register for the Harding County paleo dig or one of the other field sessions, call the Museum of Geology at 394- 2467 ( toll- free 800- 544- 8162, ext. 2467) or email: pbjork@ msmail. gw. mail. sdsmt. edu. ++ 30++ ( f:\ programs\ dept\ univrel\ pressrele\ 0698\ Dino Dig Cook fax/ stwd)
