St. Joseph Street Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 Fax: ( 605) 394- 3388 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ( APRIL 24, 1997) SDSM& T CHAPTER OF AMERICAN INDIAN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING SOCIETY TO HOLD ANNUAL BANQUET SUNDAY, APRIL 27 South Dakota Tech's Chapter of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society ( AISES) will hold its annual banquet this Sunday, April 27th, at the Mother Butler Center in Rapid City. The event will run from 2: 00 - 6: 00 p. m. with the program beginning at 3: 00 p. m. SDSM& T President Richard J. Gowen and Oglala Lakota President Tom Shortbull will give the wecolming addresses. AISES will honor the following chapter members who will be graduating in 1997: Jackie Bonhorst, Michelle Claymore, Tiffany Snyder, Randy LaRoche, Jerry Bonhorst , and Kelly LaRoche. During the program, medicine wheels will be tied on each of the graduating students. In addition to the graduating seniors, the AISES chapter also will be honoring the following individuals: AISES Teacher of Year: John Brewer AISES Student of Year: Paul Frazier AISES Alumni of Year: Stacy Phelps Tech's AISES Chapter is part of a nationwide organization of over 2500 American Indian college students. In 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994 the South Dakota Board of Regents honored the AISES Chapter at Tech as one of the most effective student organizations in the South Dakota university system. Co- advisors for the AISES chapter are Dr. Francine Campone, Dean of Students, and Dr. Robb Winter, Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.
