St. Joseph Street • Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 • Fax: ( 605) 394- 6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ( March 8, 1998) JUDGES ARE NEEDED FOR SDSM& T'S HIGH PLAINS REGIONAL SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR TO BE HELD MARCH 20 Volunteer judges are needed for the High Plains Regional Science and Engineering Fair that SDSM& T is hosting on Friday, March 20, 1998. The fair will be held from 8: 00 a. m. to 5: 00 p. m. in the New Gym on the SDSM& T campus. Following completion of the judging, the exhibits will be open to the public from 3: 00 - 5: 00 p. m. An awards ceremony will be held at 3: 30 in the New Gym. Over 250 area 6th - 12th graders are scheduled to compete in this year's High Plains Regional Science and Engineering Fair. The students will compete in the following categories: 6TH GRADE: Biological; Physical; and Team 7TH GRADE: Biological; Physical; and Team 8TH GRADE: Biological; Physical; and Team SENIOR DIVISION: Medicine and Health; Biology; Chemistry/ Physics/ Mathematics; Engineering/ Earth and Space Sciences; and Behavioral and Social Sciences The judging will be completed by 3: 30 p. m. The top two winners will advance to the International Science and Engineering Fair to be held May 10- 16, 1998, in Fort Worth, TX. Anyone interested in volunteering to be a judge in this year's High Plains Regional Science and Engineering Fair is encouraged to call Jeanette at 394- 2361 by noon, Friday, March 13, 1998.
