Dist., that part of the State East of the Missouri River, 44 Counties. Of Madison, South Dakota; Born in Humboldt S.D. June 3, 1900; only son of a Pioneer Hardware Merchant of that community; received A.B. Degree from Carleton Coll. Northfield, Minn. 1923; A.M.from Columbia, U. N.Y.C. 1927; School Teacher and Superintendent in Bryant, S.D.; College Speech and Social Science Teacher in Eastern State Normal School, Madison, S.D.; Farmer; Real Estate and Insurance Agent; appointed to S.D. Game & Fish Comm. (bipartisan) in 1931 for 6 yr. term. Married in 1924.
