DescriptionThe dedication of the gateway symbolizing the merger between the two Methodist-based colleges, Dakota Wesleyan University and Black Hills College. Although Black Hills College had not held classes since 1900, the merger was enacted to encourage Methodist students from the Black Hills region to attend DWU. The gate, made of yellow sandstone, still stands north of Smith Hall.
