| Description | Senator George McGovern discussed REA appropriations in his Washington office last week with a special legislative committee appointed by the South Dakota Rural Electric Association to seek increased loan funds for fiscal 1967. McGovern, who was active in successful efforts earlier this year to release fiscal 1966 funds impounded by the Budget Bureau, assured the group of his firm support for increased appropriations to meet the back-log of loan applications pending at the REA as well as to handle current requests. Participating in the discussions were, left to right: McGovern, Robert Johnson, Groton, Director of East River Electric; Al Hauffe, Leola, president of SDREA; Loyd Oleson, Mitchell, office manager of Intercounty Electric; Delmer Deiter, Faulkton, FEM Electric; Ted Anderson, Mitchell, manager of Intercounty; Duane Bower, Seneca, director of FEM Electric; Harlan Severson, Madison, executive assistant, East River Electric; Dail Gibbs, Huron, Manager of SDREA; Lidnie Ness, Volga, president of the Sioux Valley Electric; and Oliver Rose, Nisland, president of Rushmore Electric. |
