| Description | [Caption] "Senator McGovern's office is a workshop for South Dakota. As part of his continuing effort to promote his State, Senator McGovern sponsored an art project for South Dakota artists. Favorable comments from hundreds of visitors resulted from this display." [From verso] "Senator George McGovern displays some of the paintings and drawings he has received from South Dakota Artists. The pictures will be examined by artist Ivan Stoppe, a student of the late Harvey Dunn, and some may be used as models for a portion of the 8 x 14 foot mural of South Dakota that Stoppe is painting for the wall for the Senate Subway. Each state will have a mural on the subway walls when the project is completed. The work is financed by private funds." |
