TRUMPETER J. ED GOODMAN TO BE SPECIAL GUEST AT SDSM& T SYMPHONIC
BAND CONCERT ON MAY 2
The SDSM& T Symphonic Band will host professional trumpet virtuoso J. Ed Goodman at its spring concert this Friday, May 2nd, at 7: 30 p. m. in the Surbeck Center Ballroom. Tech’s Symphonic Band is directed by Mr. Ron Scheusner.
Goodman is the former leader of the jazz fusion band, Kinesis. He has performed with such artists as Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Maynard Ferguson, Doc Severinsen, Bobby Shaw, Earth Wind and Fire, Tower of Power, Sammy Davis Jr., Dizzy Gillespie, Pat Metheny, Tom Jones, Bill Watrous, Freddie Hubbard, SpyroGyra, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Neil Sedaka, Shirley Maclain, BJ Thomas, Liza Minnelli, Diana Ross, Dean Martin and others. He has performed on many albums, commercials, and music and movie soundtracks over the last 25 years. He is the son of Dr. James R. Goodman, SDSM& T Vice- President for Academic Affairs.
Earlier that day SDSM& T will sponsor a clinic by Mr. Goodman which is open to any interested area musicians. The clinic will be held at 2: 00 p. m. in the large Music Room in Tech’s Physical Education Center.
