RAPID CITY ---- The South Dakota School of Mines women’s volleyball team along with second-year head coach Beth Honaker are pleased to announce the addition of Becky Keilholtz, for the 2008 volleyball season.
The 5-foot-3-inch setter from Gwinn, Mich., will solidify the Hardrockers’ roster.
“Becky will add a lot of depth to the setter position,” Honaker said. “She’s very technically sound and consistently distributes the ball as needed.”
Keilholtz had an impressive high school career for the Gwinn volleyball squad, leading her conference in assists for the past three years and she also set a school record for most assists in a game with 44.
She was chosen first team all conference in 2006 and 2007, was all region in 2007 and was all state academic this past season as well.
Keilholtz, who was coached by Honaker back in 2004 and 2005 in Gwinn, is happy to be reunited with her former coach and added that she chose to come to SD Mines because it is a different atmosphere from Michigan and it was an excellent opportunity for her.
“It will be nice to work with Becky again and see the progress she’s made over the past couple of years,” Honaker said. “I am looking forward to seeing her advance to the next level.”
Keilholtz plans to study interdisciplinary sciences while attending South Dakota School of Mines.
