Grandpa Gene helps Wade win scholarship?
The Education Committee of the National Land Improvement Contractors of America has announced that Wade Miller, son of Loren and Coleen Miller will receive one of this year's two awards in the amount of $1000.00.
Part of Wade's application included an essay which explained why he should receive this award. Some excerpts of that essay are as follows:
My grandfather helped organize South Dakota's LICA Association. He has just received his 40 year membership plaque. When my grandfather first started Miller Construction, it was a one man operation with one do/.er. Miller Construction is now a family partnership that is widely known throughout South Dakota and the neighboring states.
In answer to the question on why I feel 1 should receive this scholarship; the best answer I have for you is that my grandfather is one of the many people who has greatly influenced my life. He has shown me that even though someone may start out with nothing they can still reach the top. I
have always been a hard working individual who takes pride in what I do. I feel that I would represent LICA well and in return give back a little of what my grandfather has taught me.
Wade is a 2000 graduate of Isabel High School and will be attending South Dakota School of Mines Mechanical Engineering in Rapid City.
He is the grandson of Phyllis and Eugene Miller of Isabel and Barb and Kei th Shader of Ft. Collins, Colorado.
