Lyle O. Sc hue Ike
Lyle O. Schuelke, age 75, died Sept. 24, 2001. Grave side services will be on Monday July 8, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. under the direction of G ramm- Hein Funeral Home of Ipswich.
Lyle O. Schuelke was born August 28, 1926 to Peter Paul and Ida Sophia Schuelke in Aberdeen. He received new life in the waters of Holy Baptism when he was two days old and confirmed his faith as a young adolescent in his home church, Zion Lutheran Church, Ipswich. He graduated from Ipswich High School and later served in the 508th Army Air Force Base Unit during World War II.
On March 10, 1948, he married Margaretta Mae Cooper and together they enjoyed many wonderful years raising their four children and traveling. He graduated from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, BSEE Class of 1950. After graduation he started his career with Iron Fireman as a field sales engineer covering the Midwest portion of the United States. In 1962, the family moved to California where Lyle became the regional sales manager for the Kewanee boiler division of American Standard, and in 1964, he founded the L.O. Schuelke Company.
At the time of his retirement, the company had grown into a multi-million dollar Manufacturers Representative firm covering
California and parts of Nevada. After his retirement, he pursued his hobbies of videography, hunting, fishing, barbecuing (including his famous smoked ribs),and travel. He became a travel agent, and was a Certified Judge of the Kansas City Barbecue Association.
For the last 10 years, he has been the videographer for, not only Redeemer Lutheran Church and School, but also for area Roman Catholic Schools. He .has been an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church since the family moved to the Peninsula. He has had a passion for the elementary school at Redeemer, serving for many years on its School Board and for four years as its chairperson. He enjoyed many years of involvement with Toastmasters, having served as District Governor of Toastmasters International from 1966-67.
Lyle is survived by his wife. Margie; children Dianne (David) Hannigan, San Carlos, Calif., Paul (Cheri) Schuelke, La Porte, Indiana, Glenn (Rhonda) Schuelke, Santa Ana, Calif., Lyla (Joseph) Agius, San Bruno, Calif; nine grandchildren, Brett Schuelke, Peter Schuelke, Andrew Schuelke, Stacie Bartow Schuelke, Tina Schuelke, Catherine Schuelke, Kristin Agius, Jared Agius, Janelle Agius; one great-grandchild, Caroline Hernandez; one brother Marvin Schuelke; nephew Marvin Schuelke Jr.; nieces Pamela and Patricia Schuelke.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ida Schuelke, and his brother, Chester Arthur Schuelke. Lyle leaves many cousins and dear friends and will be dearly missed.
