LOCAL STUDENT RECEIVES AWARD AT SDSM& T HONORS CONVOCATION
During the 48th Annual Honors Convocation held Tuesday, March 30, at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology ( SDSM& T), James Lang of Weston received a Leadership Award in athletics, and an award for graduating with honors ( 3.80 GPA or above). Lang is a senior, chemical engineering major at SDSM& T. He plays wide receiver on the football team. The Honors Convocation is held to present awards to students, faculty, and friends of SDSM& T in recognition of their outstanding service and academic achievements.
A total of 104 awards were given out to 87 students, faculty, and friends. The award categories included Academic Achievement; Leadership Awards in athletics; Outstanding Greek Award; Drama; Non- Traditional Student; Student Association; Fraternity & Sororities; Tech Activities Award; Seniors Graduating in 1999 With Highest Honors; Departmental Awards; Frank and Marilyn Richardson Scholars; Mines Award For Outstanding Public Service; Mines Award For Outstanding Teaching; AISES Award For Outstanding Teaching; Benard A. Ennenga Award; Virginia Simpson Award; and a Presidential Award For Outstanding Professor.
