SDSM& T TO HOST DINOSAUR DASH – 5K RUN/ WALK ON MAY 1
On May 1, 1999 the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology Museum of Geology and the Children’s Science Center will host the 1999 Dinosaur Dash. The 5K Run/ Walk is being held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Museum of Geology’s Field Dig Programs and the first year of the Children’s Science Center. Community participants have opportunities to earn awards in numerous categories including 5K run, 5K wheel chair race and dinosaur costume for various age levels.
The race will begin at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and proceed down Main Street to the Children’s Science Center, 515 West Boulevard. Participants will then proceed down E. Saint Joseph Street to return to SDSM& T.
Registration will begin at 7: 45 am with dinosaur costume judging to take place at 8: 15 am. The 5K race will take off at 8: 30 am with the 5K walk beginning at 9: 30 am. Pre- registration fee is $ 12 for adults 15 and older, and $ 10 for children 14 and younger. The entry fee includes a t- shirt, 10% coupon to the Museum of Geology bookstore, one day pass to the Children’s Science Center, and a set of temporary dinosaur tattoos.
The Dinosaur Dash is being sponsored by B & L Bagels, Colonial House, Casa Del Rey, Culligan, Hart Ranch Golf Course, Meadowbrook Golf Course, Q- Zar, Coca Cola, Pizza Hut, Play It Again Sports, Albertsons, Black Hills Corporation, and Happy Chef.
