OTTUMWA STUDENTS WIN HONORS AT HIGH PLAINS REGIONAL SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR
Three students from Ottumwa School won honors at the 44th Annual High Plains Regional Science & Engineering Fair held recently on the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology ( SDSM& T). Jayne Humble won 3rd Place/ 8th Grade- Biology for her science project entitled “ Thumbs Up.” Lesley Kirschten won 2nd Place/ 6th Grade- Physical for her science project entitled “ Up, Up, Up and Away,” and Rose Heeb won 3rd Place/ 6th Grade- Physical for her science project entitled “ Sun Time.”

The 44th Annual High Plains Regional Science & Engineering Fair featured 375 middle and high school students from 32 area schools competing in various science and engineering categories. A total of approximately $ 2,650 in cash awards plus many additional prizes that included flags, books, backpacks, databanks, and medallions were awarded to the winners in the various categories.
