DEVEREAUX FILM SERIES TO SHOW THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING
The Friends of the Devereaux Library Nostalgia Night Film Series continues this Sunday evening at the Elks Theatre with the showing of The Man Who Would Be King. The 1975 movie, which stars Sean Connery and Michael Caine, is based on the famous story by Rudyard Kipling.
The film received four Academy Award nominations. Critic Roger Ebert described the movie as " swashbuckling adventure, pure and simple, from the hand of the master. It's unabashed and thrilling and fun." Director John Huston adapted the Kipling story for the screen and tried several times to get this film to the screen. His first choices for leads were Humphrey Bogart and Clark Gable before Bogart's death in 1957.
The showing of the movie begins at 6: 00 p. m. in the historic Elks Theatre and is sponsored by National American University and Aurora Creative Solutions. Individual tickets will be available at the door the evening of the film for $ 4.50 on a space available basis. For additional information, contact the Devereaux Library at 394- 1262.
