SDSM& T WILL HOST STATE COMPETITION FOR NATIONAL GEOGRAPHY BEE APIRL 4
SDSM& T will host South Dakota’s state- level competition for the National Geography Bee on Friday, April 4. Preliminary rounds begin at 1: 15 p. m., with the final round beginning at 3: 00 p. m. in the Surbeck Center.
The National Geographic Society and Sylvan Learning Centers are sponsors of the 1997 National Geography Bee. Winners of the local school contests will compete in the state- level competition. Each state winner will receive $ 100 and other prizes, as well as an all- expense paid trip to Washington, DC, with a teacher escort. The national finals will be held May 27- 28 in Washington, DC, and will award scholarships totaling $ 50,000.
