FRIENDSHIP FAMILY PROGRAM TO HOLD POTLUCK PICNIC ON JULY 12
The Friendship Family Program is holding a potluck picnic on Saturday, July 12, to kick off the 1997- 1998 school year with international students attending universities in Rapid City. The picnic and social activities will be held at Canyon Lake Park ( Shelter # 1 off Canyon Lake Drive) from 11: 00 a. m. - 2: 00 p. m. Interested families in the community are invited to join the international students from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology and National American University to learn more about the Friendship Family Program.
The Friendship Family program allows interested families the opportunity to share cultural experiences and offer a family support system to international students attending SDSM& T or National American University. It is a family visitation program and not a home- stay or live- in program. Families and students would be able to enjoy outings, dinners, movies and/ or other activities of interest to both parties. Contact between students and families is encouraged to occur on a monthly basis throughout the school year.
SDSM& T and National American University have formed an informal alliance to provide more opportunities for international students to become involved in campus and community activities. For further information about the picnic or the Friendship Family Program, contact: Suzi Aadland- Quilt ( SDSM& T) at 394- 6884 or Misti Merriam ( NAU) at 394- 4827.
