SDSM& T TO COSPONSOR “ MANAGING MY ENVIRONMENT” SCIENCE CAMP AT LITTLE WOUND SCHOOL THIS SUMMER FOR 5TH- 7TH GRADERS
The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Science Foundation are cosponsoring a “ Managing My Environment” Science Camp this summer at the Little Wound School in Kyle. Students who have completed the 5th- 7th grades are invited to apply for participation in the camp, which will be held the week of June 23 - 27.
SDSM& T Professors Jon Kellar and Robb Winter will be conducting the one week, ½ day academic program designed to assist secondary students in exploring science, math and computer career options. Students who are selected for participation in the camp will have an opportunity to develop their math/ science skills; further develop computer, communication and study skills; and gather information from scientists and engineers. Environmental concepts will be used as a vehicle to develop these skills.
SDSM& T, EPA and the National Science Foundation are providing support to cover the camp’s costs of books, supplies, tuition and lunch for the students who are selected. Minority students are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is May 23, with selections being made by May 30th.
