Parker Palmer, in his book, To know as we are known, makes the statement, “ Great teaching is not about technique, but about relationships.” It is from that premise I want to spend a few minutes sharing the bragging notes of our new entering students. Each summer, along with orientation registration, I receive 250 or so bragging notes. These are activities, awards, or other events that our incoming students want us to know about them. Perhaps these notes can help you start building relationships with students that can foster the great teaching we all remain committed to here at Mines.
