POCAHONTAS NATIVE RECEIVES 1998 SDSM& T PRESIDENTIAL AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING PROFESSOR
Pocahontas native Alfred Boysen, Ed. D., recently received the 1998 SDSM& T Presidential Award for Outstanding Professor by the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology ( SDSM& T). Boysen is the son of Roy and Emma Boysen, who were long- time residents of Pocahontas.
Dr. Richard J. Gowen, President of SDSM& T, presented the award to Dr. Boysen during SDSM& T’s recent 47th Annual Honors Convocation. Boysen, a professor of English in SDSM& T’s Department of Humanities, has taught at SDSM& T since 1969.
Dr. Boysen was selected for the award in recognition of his accomplishments in teaching and the positive impact he has had on students over the past three decades.
After graduating from Augustana College with a B. A. degree in English in 1967, Boysen received his M. A. degree in English in 1968 and his Ed. D. degree in 1979 from the University of South Dakota. He and his wife, Charis, have a son, Troy.
