Between one and two thousand men now in the armed services, as well as many hundreds
more who serve in industry, received a part of their training in South Dakota at her
School of Mines and Technology.
It is difficult to express our pride and satisfaction in what you men are doing. Again
you are abundantly demonstrating what we have always maintained you can rely on the
Miners in any emergency.
Wherever you are, South Dakota is as proud of you as you are of her. The meager
information you are permitted to give us in your letters from all parts of the world,
shows that in training men like you, South Dakota is making a real contribution toward
the winning of the war.
